What is CAPRI for Researchers?

CAPRI is a collaborative Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) that enables interested researchers nationally and internationally to use the CAPRI database for their research question. This can be done by submitting an EOI. The CAPRI database can be used using the questionnaire data itself or via recruitment of participating physiotherapists-clinicians or patients for your research projects. The CAPRI database consists of practitioner-based information. CAPRI can accommodate both qualitative and quantitative research and examination of the efficacy, effectiveness, safety and cost evaluation of aspects of physiotherapy care.

What are the benefits of working with CAPRI?

The CAPRI uses a sub-study model, which means that initial recruitment and data collection focuses upon the practitioner population. This database then acts as a sustainable resource providing a platform for further research. This sub-study model provides excellent flexibility helping facilitate coordinated ongoing research and capacity building. Practice Based Research Networks, like CAPRI, have been employed to help build an evidence-base in a number of health care fields around the world. Here we provide links for some examples.

Utilising CAPRI to conduct your research has a number of benefits, as utilisation of the CAPRI infrastructure and platform will provide an opportunity to:

Maximise cost efficiency and time savings particularly regarding project start-up (including recruitment and access)

Build upon the established CAPRI branding and marketing activities

Draw upon an established large-scale national network of committed practitioners aiding coverage, recruitment and retention of participants and strengthening the validity and impact of your research

Gain additional expert advice and input from the CAPRI Steering Committee (as required and/or requested)

How can I join CAPRI?

An Expression of Interest (EOI) process has been designed to help manage sub-study proposals. The invitation to collaborate and utilise the CAPRI-database is open to early-career and senior researchers, clinicians who may wish to partner in research activity as well as PhD students and potential PhD candidates looking to examine a specific area of physiotherapy.

We encourage clinicians, researchers, PhD students, potential funders and others to submit an EOI sub-study proposal. Both national and international investigators are welcomed. EOI submissions will be subject to scientific review by the CAPRI Project Steering Committee to ensure quality, rigour, fit and other important criteria.

Any interested researcher can submit a Sub-study Expression of Interest (EOI) using the application form (more information coming soon). For enquiries regarding a sub-study EOI application please feel free to contact us at CAPRI@uts.edu.au.
